Abstract

The expression of intensity has aroused interest of many researchers concerning contemporary French, but not regarding medieval French. Within the framework of the COLINDANTE project, we set out to observe its manifestation in an author like Villon. Based on the notions of collocations from sense-text theory, we focused on one of the possible types of intensifiers: comparisons with comme, and we made a complete inventory of them. The purpose of this article is to briefly specify the theoretical framework that supports our research, in particular the notion of collocation, then to analyze the various examples found in medieval French and contemporary French, then we will compare their translations in Spanish and in Catalan.
