Abstract
This paper stands in the context of the relationship between language and culture in the teaching and learning of French as a Foreign Language. Three approaches have been considered. The first one is a grammatical-discursive approach, which refers to the meaning of the word in a particular situation and to the effects that the communicative aim produces in the discourse. The second one is a linguistical-cultural approach, which is based on the word as a receptacle of a particular society’s culture. Finally, the third approach is related to the social behavioral rituals that are used to understand and interpret daily events.
