Zusammenfassung
In this article, I propose a contrastive study of the values and conditions of use of the prepositions "ante" and "mediante". Following recent studies which stress that grammatical words reflect the subjectivity of the speaker, it will be shown that these subjective aspects, often ignored by dictionaries, are crucial in guiding the choice of an equivalent in another language.
