Resumen

Samuel Beckett decided to change his writing language in many occasions, from English to French and vice versa. The reasons are numerous: his need to change of language in order to leave behind his habits acquired in English, habits that he also acquires in French later on, the relation between himself and his mother, the censorship, the sexual taboo and the religion way too present. According to Chiara Montini, those changes of language are divided in four periods. Beckett’s auto translations change depending on the period he carries them out. Generally, they are very similar, but we can affirm those are new texts due to the stylistic, comical and cultural adaptation, as well as the freedom regarding the characters personality.
