Resumen

The general Grammar (GG) which developed in Spain in the first half of the nineteenth century is closely related to the GG which preceded in France in the eighteenth century. In this mainstream both the Spanish and the French grammars, with particular features in each case, were integrated. In this paper, we shall, first, ‘revisit’, by way of introduction, some concepts related to the GG in France and, particularly, with its syntax, since this was in several cases hindsight horizon of those French grammars which were elaborated in Spain between 1800 and 1850, our subject at hand. Secondly, we shall provide some data and reflections towards the presence and the contents appearing under the heading ‘syntax’ or other contents that deal with the syntactic phenomena in the French grammar aforementioned. More specifically, we shall attempt to gauge how the French GG contributed to the evolution of the syntax in French grammars elaborated on this side of the Pyrenees, and also the level of integration of ‘new’ grammatical concepts in these grammars coined in the eighteenth century
