Abstract
In the present work we study the specialized phraseological units in texts of legal nature. For this purpose, we firstly examine the main features of the phraseological units in the legal language and we put forward our own proposal of typology based on the classifications of Julia Sevilla (1993, 2013) and M.ª Ángeles Solano (2012). In this presentation, every type of unit is accompanied by a number of examples of legal phraseology to illustrate the existing variety and their associated problems. Secondly, we tackle the translation of specialized phraseological units in texts of Constitutional law written in French and in Spanish (Constitutions and constitutional case law) and we contribute different resources and translation strategies which could settle the difficulties arising during the process of the search for equivalents. Finally, we outline a didactic proposal to be used as a guideline in the Terminology classroom in order to study legal phraseology in the field of Translation and Interpreting studies.
