Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze both the role and the description of French verbal mood in an established corpus of FLE grammars for Spanish speakers. The focus of this verbal element, although presented in a standardized form, is nonetheless heterogenic in the number of moods and in the description of the subjunctive, whose simplification of temporary forms varies from one text to another. The mood, a grammatical label to classify and structure verbal series, does not come to be considered as a grammatical phenomenon that needs a contextualized reformulation. All this leads us to consider the mood change proposed by future, conditional and subjunctive in these two languages, as well as the correspondence between French future and Spanish subjunctive, particularly in the case of adverbial clauses of time.
