Resum
Our objective is to draft a comparative study between two literary translations from English into Spanish, specifically from chapter VI of Far away and long ago, a biography by the Anglo-Argentinean William Henry Hudson (1841-1922), an ornithologist and writer admired by writers like Conrad, Lawrence or Borges. The first version, by Fernando Pozzo and Celia Rodríguez Pozzo, was published in Argentina in 1948; the second version, by Miguel Temprano García was published in Spain in 2003. Our study will examine the differences between these two translations, to discuss the excessive local character of the Argentinean version which reflects a clear intent of domesticating the English text and of argentinizing its English author.
