Abstract

The elaboration of bioethical texts has experienced an exponential growth since the principialism movement first appeared with the work of Beauchamp and Childress (1979). Given that this discourse is governed by texts mostly written in English, translation occupies a place of utmost importance for specialists in this field. This doctoral thesis is intended to set out a general outline of discourse organization within the bioethical field, which will allow us to seek full guarantees of quality for the removal of potential mistakes, both in the terminological and in the conceptual and contextual vectors. Therefore, we undertake the Bioethics study from the Translation point of view. In order to clarify the basic parameters of such complex framework of texts from different areas, our first goal is to establish a textual taxonomy that allows setting out an organized system in which each text finds its place within the hierarchy. Together with such classification and a numerous collection of texts in the bioethical field, the present study is completed with the computerized organization of bibliographic entries labelled and classified according to different parameters within a corpus. This research will set the basis for an enhancement of any linguistic analysis in this field of expertise, and provide a valuable tool for document and text search for both language professionals and bioethics researches.
