Abstract
Taking as a starting point the justification of humanistic studies as "the transmission of the common culture", the artic1e suggests the revision of this concept, which implicitly brings forward the debate over the canon. The evolution and the vicissitudes of Humanity Studies seen from a diachronical point of view, together with the premise of the mobility of canons, enable us to deduce that crisis of the humanities, and that of the canon, can be overcome by widening the approach of statements and by accepting the canon's cultural diversity.
