Resum

The day after his mother’s death, on October 25, 1977, Roland Barthes began the Mourning diary. The last entry is dated September 15, 1979. During these two years, immersed in grief, Barthes devoted himself to writing, to keep the memory of his mother alive. But how to write? What language should be invented? Is it still possible to speak? Death compromises language, it creeps into the interstices of the word, until it tears discourse apart. That is why, on November 4, 1978, Barthes confirms that writing is no longer possible.
