Abstract
A major issue in the foreign languages learning is the teaching of communication skills. The CEFR highlights that the sociolinguistic adequacy should be adapted to the learner’s characteristics and needs as he is the one who must play the role of mediator. This study tackles the problem of the treatment of the sociolinguistic component through the comic strip in a textbook of French for tourism for beginners (A2). As a playful teaching resource, the comic strip is appreciated by the learners because it is a good trigger to put into practice the knowledge acquired by means of diversified activities. The analysis of this practical framework allows to verify how the teaching of sociolinguistic aspects through illustrations succeeds in raising Spanish-speaking learners’ awareness of intercultural differences and, moreover, it prepares them to face real professional situations in the field of tourism
