In an open and pluralistic society that is undergoing constant changes, the Educational Institutions cannot overlook the new didactic and methodology approaches used in curricula design and programs for different subjects. Our objective is to try to evaluate, form a comparative perspective, the value and efficacy of the curricula for French during the mandatory schooling period in three countries of Southem Europe: Italy, Spain and Portugal. This study has allowed us to extract information on the value and on the basis of those, on their degree of coherence between them and the decisions taken when designing objectives, selecting content, sequencing, suggesting ways of teaching and of evaluating, and also on the degree of adequacy to the students. Our model of analysis allows a qualitative evaluation of the programs studied in order to verify its adequacy and to establish the needed comparisons taking into account the comunities for which they are intended.
