Abstract

Chamoiseau and Ségur introduce us into a fictional universe starring a gravedigger and an orphan whose world is impregnated with other layers of reality, which immerse us in the magical-religious beliefs of the Antilles and make us rethink the history of the region, its foundational myths and the question of Creole identity. We are going to study the chronotope of the story. Then we will focus on the study of the storyteller’s character and his relation with the shaman, the mythical stories that appear in his journey to the great beyond, and the political considerations implied in this comic.
