Abstract

Prosodic elements are determining factors in the context of the teaching and learning foreign languages as they are the first perceived elements (Billières 2002). For non-native learners (FLE), reproducing the “correct” accent is as difficult as perceiving it, as Baqué and al. (2014) showed in anterior studies. The aim of our actual work is to show if Spanish advanced learners of French managed to get stress pattern of French. To carry on our study, we used the DESACROM corpus, made of 82 declarative and interrogative sentences in French and Spanish. An acoustic analysis of parameters involved through stress realization (duration, f0, intensity) has been carried out. The results of each parameter (dependent variables) were analysed using linear regression models with mixed effects, in which subjects and items were entered as random variables and mother tongue, accentual structure, noun phrase complexity and intonation as predictors.
