Abstract

One of the main mistakes systematically made by Spanish speakers is the wrong choice of the auxiliary verb in the conjugation of the passé composé and other tenses and it’s often about the extensive use of the auxiliary avoir, in particular in the case of pronominal verbs. Our analysis focuses on a representative corpus of French grammars, published in Spain, since 1970. Whilst the theory is obviously the same, the way in which the different authors approached this is certainly different: therefore, it is a question of comparing the proposed explanations, in order to see if they are really relevant to the specific needs of Spanish learners.
