Abstract

The critics have established two differentiated stages in the writing of Le Clézio; the first stage in which his work is catalogued inside the movement of the Nouveau Roman, and the second stage in which the author undertakes a search of his origins, honouring his forbears. Nevertheless, the works of Le Clézio present a constant: their poetical dimension. This is the case of La Quarantaine. Jean-Yves Tadié established a definition for the poetical account that adjusts to the work of Le Clézio, so if we examine the narrative structure of the work as well as the space, the time, the meanings of the account and the style used by the author, we can observe that they take part of the poetry of the work.
