Abstract
This article studies the relative truthfulnes or falseness of the Duchess of Abrantes's autobiographical texts (that is, her Mémoires and Souvenirs d'une ambassade). In spite of her declared allegations of originality, she is indebted to a number of sources. On the other hand, attention is paid to the interrelations between her biographical and her authentic writings.
