Résumé

In the history and theory of translation, the topic of the translator’s invisibility and/or the degree of transparency demanded from the target text have been the subject of significant debates, the scales clearly tipping towards the view that translators must not interfere with the text, but remain faithful to the original author. The analysis of those situations where the religious translator becomes openly visible and the consequences of such procedure constitute the subject matter of this article.
