Résumé
The present article adopts a CDA perspective to analyze Spanish parlimentary debates of the State of the Nation in 2003 and 2005. Throughout the debates, the presidents of Spain represent the positions of different parliamentary groups on the issue of the migratory movements of Spaniards that have characterized recent years, and which have generated a social debate in diverse areas of public Spanish life,as in parliamentary discourse. We measure the number of times certain words (related to the lexical field of foreigners and immigration status) are used by members of each group. From this, I arrive ata set of statistics about the word usage. We also make commentaries on the linguistic-discursive strategies used by the deputies to argue about this topic. Among our findings is that some deputies associate "immigration" with "problem" in their discourse.
