Laburpena

Julio Lavandero is a missionary, among many, who gave his whole life to the Guarao indians. We could say that he is an ethnologist, ethnographer, ethnolinguist, anthropologist and translator. His fieldwork has been enormous; first, recording, not only the language, but also the narration of an oral literature. He transcribed these narrations for the Guaraos themselves and translated them for us, for all of us. But, unfortunately, not only has his work not been recognized, but his copyright has been breached beyond repair. The purpose of this paper is to make this work of integration into unknown cultures visible and to underscore the little importance given to it up to now.
