Résumé

Emmanuel Bove's novels put in scene the existential failure of mediocre beings. La dernière nuit presents a young man pushed to the suicide by his sense of guilty. Without showing repentance nor confessing the crime, during his last night Blake enters into the paranoiac spiral of the fault. The narration of these hours, presented as reality, is however the narration of the delirium which precedes his death. He shows that the origin of his distress is ontological. Only his incapacity to perceive the reality in an objective way makes him guilty because his desperate attempts to avoid the punishment show his individualism and his lack of moral principles.
