Resum
Gaston Danville's treatment of the space in Contes d'au-delà This paper intends to study the main lines of the space and the relationship between places and subjective apprehension of characters. Gaston Danville's Contes d'au-delà focuses on the exploration of lonely and rootless figures' anomalous behaviour. The brevity of his short stories implies designing concise portraits, restricting time and space narrative development. It begins by analyzing enclosed spaces, dwellings or rooms in which the character projects, obsessions, and psychological disorders. It continues reviewing open spaces, often linked to a stroll among urban scenery or wild landscapes nuanced by light and shadow variations that open the door to the uncanny.
