Résumé

After a brief account of the complexities and specifics of literary translation and the teaching of literary translation, I offer a number of methodological suggestions supported by my university teaching experience and my work as a translator. I propose an eminently practical approach, based on authentic texts and revolving around underlying theoretical positions which integrate the three key components in the training of the philologist-translator: the literarycultural, linguistic and creative dimensions. My approach is structured in terms of the various stages of the translation process and places particular emphasis on the acquisition of appropriate working methods from the pre-translation phase through collective translation, a modus operandi which I regard as offering an extremely valuable learning tool complementary to individual work.
