Amongst many monographs about happiness written in the eighteenth century, we would like to stand out one written by Mme du Châtelet, because although she adopts the main reasons shared by her contemporary thoughts and the old time clichés, she does this from a feminine point of view where her practical philosophy, the pleasure of the senses and the intellectual work are combined in her pursuit of a quotidian and specific happiness
