Résumé

In this article we explore the outcropping quixotic Sancho Panza in accepting the job as squire under the government's promise of the island of Barataria. This "promised land" becomes the object of desire of this rustic peasant who wishes to adopt a new identity in the same way that his master becomes a bookish knight under the influence of epic tale. The present value of the government of Sancho Panza, with its successes and failures, achievements and difficulties are also analyzed.
