Résumé

Jean Cocteau, although he said the personal resonances of the history of the Le Grand Écart, he has not chosen an autobiographical writing, but impersonally. He wants to deny any correspondence with reality, causing a feeling of artifice. Nevertheless, the narrative features betray his personal truth. The narratological distance also allows it to be multi-fold, sometimes by throwing in the character sometimes in the narrator, and reveal the contradictions of his nature. On the other hand, the narrator reveals his knowledge of another kind of truth, metaphysics, concerning the mystery of the hereafter, temporality, etc.
