Abstract
Since J.J. Rousseau marked the beginning of modern autobiography with his Confessions, sexual confession has become common place in autobiographical writing. Following this tradition, Michel Leiris confers sexuality a main place in his works L’Âge d’homme and La Règle du jeu. In his case, sexual confession presents a singular morphology because it is always linked with a visual image, especially pictorial. This work analyses the relation between writing, image and eroticism in the first Michel Leiris’ autobiography, in order to show how these three vectors interact and therefore how eroticism has a noteworthy cultural nature in this author.
